The fine art of tail braiding.

To braid the tail for Dressage, follow these directions.

1. Dampen around the dock.

2. Separate three small sections of hair on either side.

3. Begin a three-strand braid with the smaller sections.
4. Bring each new strand from behind the tail.
5. Add strands from behind the tail at each step. 6. Keep the tension even as you braid. 7. Stop adding new strands at the end of the tail bone.

8. Secure the end with a small rubber band.
9. Sew through the end of the braid with a needle and yarn.
10. Draw the braid into a loop by bringing the needle and yarn out at about the fourth or fifth braid segment. Tie the yarn off in a square knot and snip.
Here's how the finished tail should look. The best way to learn is to practice. Try it on your own horse.
