Western Horse Sports
The ranching culture was introduced to the Americas by the Spanish vaquero, the finest horseman in the world. Working the wild cattle required the ultimate equestrian skills and out of this, Western sports developed.

Bronc Riding comes in two variations, Bareback and Saddle Bronc. The Bareback rider has no saddle or reins. The Saddle Bronc rider is the "glamour boy" of rodeo as he spurs his horse from shoulder to flanks with the skill of an adagio dancer.

Barrel Racing. The rider
performs at a full gallop around a three-barrel course. Winning or
losing is gauged in fractions of seconds.

Western Pleasure.
Not
only is the horse decked
out with a silver-laden saddle
and bridle but the rider is
attired in the latest Western
haute couture.

Calf Roping. The roper bursts out of the gate, drops his loop on the calf, dallies, dismounts, flanks and ties the calf --- sometimes in as little as 8 seconds!
Reining. The horse is
brought to a perfect
sliding stop by his
very adroit rider.
