Since
I graduated from high school, I've been traveling down the road
quite a bit. I picked up a little tip from a cowboy fellow I met.
If you're going to travel any distance with an aged horse, you
might consider a "Shock Absorber" for his feet. Take a piece of
dry wall and place it under each hoof to make a cut out. Cut the
dry wall out, get some shipping bandages and wrap his legs, but
vet wrap the dry wall to the bottom of his hooves for just a little
more resistance from the long haul. This worked great when I retired
my good horse Doc back to California. It took a lot of the stress
off his legs.
